Specter of EFCA Raises Its Head

Followers of Beltway politics were shaken by today’s news that Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter will switch parties for his upcoming re-election campaign. He says his position on the Employee Free Choice Act will not change. However, many are concerned about what this means for the future of EFCA.

    Well…I guess we just add Specter to the growing list of Democrats who oppose EFCA.

    I support the labor movement. I hope for passage of the Employee Free Choice Act. Why? I believe that it is a fallacy that EFCA will eliminate the secret ballot. I hope that people will look beyond the spin and will discover the truth. Our labor unions give the workers of America a fair shake in negotiating for better working conditions. This scares many people in corporate America. This is why there is such a massive effort to stop EFCA.
